Wardrobe Planning Hits and Misses Volume 1 Week 12

Last week I started a new project with a new client which meant an extra challenge for my guest stylist Angela Britt of Style with Angela since I wasn’t quite sure what to expect in terms of dress code. Click on the picture below to watch our Sunday Night Wardrobe Planning video on YouTube.thumbnailTo be on the safe side, Angela went with a very professional look for our theme of styling outfits around statement jewelry – let’s see how we did:

I ended up starting my new client engagement on Tuesday and it began with a bang since I got to wear this fabulous “Legacy” necklace Angela picked out from Premier Designs.    Angela spotted a “black hole” in my accessories rack so she thought this necklace would fill it nicely and I believe it will.  I was also thrilled to wear these wonderful Pour La Victoire heels that my friend Vicky Evans gave me a few years ago.  I love these shoes, but I’ve always struggled with what to wear them with so I was delighted when I got to break them out (not sure why they didn’t make the It’s all About the Shoes video or blog post a few weeks ago with Laquita Passmore).  I’m always comfortable in my go to black slacks from White House Black Market (WHBM) and then I also love this floral cardigan also from WHBM.

For Wednesday Angela really wanted to work File Aug 15, 11 07 06 PMwith my pink blazer so she snagged these Kendra Scott pink quartz and mother of pearl pieces to pair with it.  That’s my pink journal underneath the jewelry – my client asked me if I carry different journals to coordinate with my outfits so I thought I’d include it in my post.  And, yes, that is a pink metal band on my FitBit versa watch.  Pink and navy seem to be huge this summer (Dionne Peters paired navy with a “fruit punch” pink a few weeks ago so apparently all shades of pink with navy) so Angela went to my Anne Klein pin striped pants on bottom.  My pink patent leather pumps from J Renee and my pink handbag from Michael Kors rounded out this ensemble nicely.

For Thursday Angela reached for the “Cashmere” necklace from Premier Designs that I purchased earlier this year at my friend Julie McGuire’s party.  I’ve enjoyed this necklace so much that I gave one away as part of my Fashion Love June video with Leela Madan – I still need to pop that in the mail to Danielle Adams so she can send us a picture of how it looks on her!  Angela paired the cashmere necklace with the lovely brown beads my sister in law brought me back years ago from Russia and I thought the two worked really well together adding a nice pop of color to this neutral on neutral combination.  My new nude pumps from Invanka Trump made their debut as well – nude pumps were a hole in my wardrobe that I had been needing to plug for a while.  The Brahman purse that my son and mother gave me for my birthday a few years ago rounded things out nicely.

Friday I switched out the navy pants that Angela2567323F-760F-4C46-BB4A-CB90D3E276B6 had originally grabbed to pair with this white jacket and pale pink tee for a navy skirt (more pink and navy).  I was very sorry at lunch when I attended a presentation in a freezing cold auditorium (note to self: listen to Angela!).  The fabulous 90″ long necklace that Angela designed this outfit around (Wink from Premier Designs) worked great though – lots of fun to wear and play with (although I did not jump rope with it as Angela suggested in our video – wink wink).  Apparently there are 39 different ways to wear this versatile necklace which you can check out on YouTube.  I also wore my new white jacket from Vince Camuto for the first time – another wardrobe hole plugged on the suggestion of Jodi Skorupski of Style Success from Week 8.  These white faux snake skin Guess pumps worked great with the white jacket – just wish I’d had a bit more color on my legs!

For Sunday I got to celebrate my cousin Toodie’s birthday with her, her sister Ricki and my mom at our all time favorite Houston brunch spot Backstreet Cafe.  Angela had hooked me up with a Sunday Funday casual outfit that incorporated the new light denim top by Veveret that I acquired on a recent trip to Cuero, TX with my friend Anne Morrison to visit our mutual friend Debbie Rath and her family.  Cuero had these wonderful boutiques on their Main Street where I got some great pieces – who knew?  Angela hooked me up with this tri-colored “Get Noticed” necklace from Premier Designs which worked great with the denim top and to which I added these cool hoop/bead earrings from Cuero.  She rounded out the outfit with my Steve Madden “4 the Cool People” wedges which are always fun.

All it all it was a great first week with my new client and I love the pieces that I acquired from Angela to fill in some holes in my “high fashion jewelry” collection.  I’ve included links for all the Premier Design pieces if you click on their names.  The links will take you to Angela’s website if you are interested in purchasing any of the necklaces.  In the meantime, please check out this week’s video with Natalie King of Nat King Couture where she gives some great tips for how to dress in clothes that will flatter your figure when you are feeling a little bloated (hate it when that happens!).  Have a fabulous week!  XOXO, Misty
