Back on August 17th I posted an Instagram picture of this fabulous primer that was recommended to me by a lady in the Montreal Airport duty free shop. I’ve been loving this stuff (The Smoother Universal Perfecting Primer by Estee Lauder) because it seems to help my foundation glide on easily and evenly. It also feels fairly clean going on – not greasy or difficult to spread and a little goes a long way. That may also have something to do with my morning skincare routine, but more on that later. And, no sooner did I post it than several people commented that they have been using it too and it is staple in their makeup bag. I’m about to run out of my first tube which means it lasted all summer and halfway into the Fall – not bad.
Earlier in the year, I watched a few videos by Mathias4Makeup on YouTube – he has a great playlist for women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and up – click on the picture of his page above check out some of the great videos on it. In one of his play lists he recommended that women with mature skin avoid powder to set their makeup and instead go with a setting spray. The spray he demonstrated was Urban Decay All Nigher. I promptly added it to my wish list and eventually received some from my Mom. I also promptly forgot I put it on my wish list and bought some for myself (senior moment). I’m on that second bottle now and I have to say I do like it much better than powder since it doesn’t settle in those early stage wrinkles that I like to pretend I don’t have. You might also want to check out Stamatina Papamanolis’s YouTube channel (SMJP Makeup) where she discussed spraying a little setting spray on your beauty blender when you apply your foundation – that seems to be working really well too!
The real reason I’m recommending the two of these together though is that I’ve noticed a real difference in the staying power of my makeup even with two different foundations. My eye shadow in particular seems to hang in there all day long and even my contour powder is still there when I wash my face at night.
I’d also be remiss if I didn’t give my girl Christiane Waldron some credit for her awesome Jenetiqa skincare products that I use every day as part of my morning skincare routine (see Skincare Oils that Don’t Feel Oily – Wait What? on this blog and our Fall Day Time Skincare Routine video on the Closet Reboot YouTube channel). The day cream and beauty oil definitely help prep my skin to receive the primer.
Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that I am not a skincare or makeup professional. I rarely recommend these types of items because frankly, I don’t know that much about what makes makeup or skincare good other than if I actually notice results or find them easy to use. I’m also not getting compensated for any of the recommendations in this post so I hope you find it worth more than what you paid for it (basically just your time in reading) and I hope you have a great rest of the week!
XOXO,
Misty Ann
