Finally Lost the Chapped Lips

For years I’ve had issues with chapped lips.  The most likely culprit is dehydration since adequate water consumption has never been my strong suit.  But for what ever reason, there was pretty much always loose skin on my lips that I was constantly biting at – yuck!  And not exactly helpful when applying lipstick.  Well, those days are pretty much over because after years of testing every lip balm on the market, I finally found one that works for me.  And, it’s not really lip balm.  No, it is an ointment – Aquaphor to be specific.

I’ll have to credit my cousin Toodie with this find.  She had taken skin medication as a teenager that left her very dry.  She discovered Aquaphor years ago and recently passed along the secret to me.  I have to say this stuff is amazing!  For the first time in my life, I actually have smooth lips and it feels really good!  I keep tubs of it everywhere – in my night stand, in my skincare drawer, next to my makeup and of course I carry a large tube in my purse.  Aquaphor does also make a lip balm, but for some reason it just doesn’t seem to work as well for me as the regular ointment so I stick with that.

Of course, Aquaphor works great for lots of other things – when I have a cold, it is a must to prevent my nose from getting raw and when my hands get cracked and dry in the winter, it works great as an intensive treatment before I go to sleep.  Plastic surgeons also recommend it after surgery to help keep skin around stitches moist and prevent scarring (yes, I know from experience).

I’m not being paid to recommend this stuff, it’s just been a real game changer for me so I thought I’d pass it along to you as Toodie did for me.  And of course, I’m all ears if you have some great life hack secrets like this one to share!

XOXO,

Misty Ann
